...tiny, little cabbage aphids. If left untreated, these tiny bugs will eat up our cabbage leaves from the center to the outside. We will treat them with a garlic barrier made up of garlic juice, fish oil, and water. Can you spot them?

Our Kindergarteners have been busy planting a "Parts of the Plant" garden in their outdoor garden box. They will learn which part of the plants we can eat: seed (peas), stem (bok choy), root (carrots), leaf (spinach), and fruit (cucumbers). In addition, every child will plant their own seed to grow in the classroom where they can closely track the progress of their own plant. They will be able to take their sprouts home when they are ready.
Today the children cleaned out their garden box and prepped the soil for a new Spring crop. We found a head of cabbage left over from our fall crop. We looked for worms and good garden bugs, signs of a healthy garden.
